Housing
|
Seoul is experiencing a shortage of housing. Large apartment buildings have been constructed to help the demand for housing. Old-style wooden houses (called hanok) can be found in some areas next to the remains of the city wall. All over the city, the high-rise uniform apartment buildings can be seen. It has been said that Seoul's buildings were built for use, and not appearance.

In fact, some streets can be as large as eight lanes wide. There is a road around the city that bridges the gap between towns. This takes some stress off of traffic. Seoul also has an extensive subway system, as you can see in the image to the right.
