Population Overview
Seoul is one of the most densely populated cities on the globe. The city has an area of about 605 square kilometers with a little over 10 million citizens (as of 2014). Seoul contains 20 percent of the overall Korean population. Foreign residents make up a small fraction of the city's population, and they are not concentrated in any particular areas but are distributed across the city. Almost all of Seoul's population is consists of Korean citizens, and almost all of these citizens are ethnically Korean. About 1.6 million households migrated to Seoul between 2000 and 2010. This means that an average of 160,000 households moved into Seoul annually.
