Korea's Government
As a whole, South Korea's government is called the Republic of Korea. The government does not recognize North Korea as being separate. The head of the Republic of Korea is a president. The president is elected by the people, and they serve a five year term. South Korea elected their eleventh and first female president in 2013, Park Geun-hye.
City BreakdownSeoul has 25 autonomous districts. The city is divided into almost equal sections by the Han river. Seoul also has 8 mountains.
Local GovernmentThe city has the Seoul Metropolitan Government, which is its administrative organization. The mayor of the city is elected by the citizens of Seoul, and serves a four-year term. The mayor is responsible for managing the city government.
